About Us

Mary Jane Vaughan Designs is a creative events and wedding floristry studio based in London. As one of the country’s leading luxury florists, we bring our signature elevated and artistic style to every project.

Our flowers tell a story

Our ethos has always been focused on new and beautiful design (not just in the floristry space) and finding ways to apply that to our work – continually moving forward with new looks and concepts for more sustainable, season driven floristry.

We work very collaboratively as a creative team, often taking a group approach to design and combining our varied talents. This goes hand in hand with making creativity accessible to our clients. We have a very friendly, approachable team who love nothing more than a new challenge. We love what we do, and this is reflected in the energy we bring to every project.

Sustainability and the environment

We are in floristry simply because we love flowers and natural beauty. Our respect for the natural world is at the forefront of all we do and we always reflect the seasons in our designs.

We embrace British grown flowers and foliage in the months that they are available and incorporate them whenever we can in our work. We also work closely with our trusted wholesale suppliers at The New Covent Garden Market (and collect flowers in our new electric van). Plants are also incorporated in our designs more and more and 2024 saw our first few all-plant weddings.

In 2025 we launched an elevated wedding collection named ‘At first light’ for which we will source all flowers and foliage from British farms. It is the first time we are advertising an offering that we have been working towards for years.

Any flowers or plants that return after an event are distributed to the following inspiring organisations:

St Mungo’s Putting Down Roots is a horticultural therapy and training project helping people recovering from homelessness to grow their confidence and skills and to rebuild their lives through gardening. Putting Down Roots helps to build people’s self-esteem, confidence and sociability. We regularly donate plants to the beautiful gardening hub in Clapham for planting in their training garden and hostels around London.

Post event cut flowers are carefully gathered for collection by the Confetti Club – a not-for profit organisation that turns petals into sustainable confetti. Any remaining green waste is packed in brown paper sacks for collection by COM:POST who turn every scrap of organic waste we generate into compost to grow more plants and flowers.

Our creative team are currently working on a course with the Sustainable Floristry Network, an independent education and membership organisation for florists.  The SFN has developed a Continuing Professional Development education program to support a new generation of florists committed to sustainability. This course connects the science of sustainability to the art of floristry and we are very proud to be a part of this new movement.

As we look to the future, we have ambitions to further our work in all areas of sustainability. We will continue to research and develop ways to offer floristry designs that are more sustainable – using flowers that are sourced and grown sustainably, championing designs that avoid the use of floral foam.

Social Responsibility

Flowers are at the heart of everything we do but it is our talented, multifaceted team that make us the company we are. As a business we foster a culture of kindness and acceptance, we celebrate diversity and encourage conversation about the world around us. As individuals we learn from each other, lift each other up and share our inspiration and ideas.

We are a Living Wage employer.

Our Team

Mary Jane Vaughan

Director

Growing up, Mary Jane spent the holidays helping out on her father’s flower farm in Colombia before returning to school in England. In time, Mary Jane joined her brothers in the flower business, before branching out on her own to set up her first flower shop in Fulham in 1982. Thirty-five years on, Mary Jane’s love for flowers is as strong as ever, and the driving force behind everything that the company does. From the bold and brave, to the luxurious and lavish, Mary Jane is a design focused leader of her team.

Mary Jane's area of particular interest and skill is experiential event design, large scale installations and weddings. Collaborative and innovative, she has close relationships with the Creative teams at many Catering and Events companies. Mary Jane also takes care of the corporate contract side of the business managing the weekly flowers and design brands such as Coutts Bank, Sky Garden and Fortnum & Mason

Anna Donner

Senior Creative & Client Services

With a background in film marketing, commercials and branding, she’s the first to leap on a creative brief for a product launch or party. Anna brings to our team style and flair in huge quantities and is bold and innovative in her designs. Utterly passionate about flowers from her first job in a flower shop at aged 14 to now, she designs weddings and events with atmosphere and a sensitivity for the way flowers behave in nature.

Tove Carroll

Head of the Creative Team

Tove moved to floristry after a career in PR as has never looked back. After formal training she joined MJV and has been here for over 10 years. Her delicate touch and eye for the nuances of colour weave a romantic spell over her designs for weddings and she’ll always add her sparkle by making bridal flowers personally. As the Head of the Creative Team, Tove is often the lead on large scale productions including film premieres and installations. Meticulous, organized and a brilliant florist.

Kathleen Elvin

Studio Manager

Kathleen has worked alongside Mary Jane for over 30 years and is responsible for running the studio, organizing event logistics and sourcing all our flowers. You’ll find her at the market every single day buying and topping up her encyclopaedic knowledge of cut flower varieties, foliage and plants.

Victoria Williams

Creative & Client Services

Victoria is our resident romantic – she adores blousy roses, blush pinks and sumptuous designs for weddings and chic, elegant styles for events. Before she joined us Victoria ran her own floristry business and now works in the design studio taking care of proposals for corporate clients and couples.

Monica Meira Vaughan

Digital & Social Media

As Mary Jane’s daughter, Monica grew up around flowers and florists, so the business really is in her dna/genes! Having acquired over ten years experience in marketing and writing professionally, Monica returned to MJV Designs four years ago to work alongside the Creative Team as Digital Marketing & Social Media Director. She’s also a published author and award winning photographer - our website is full of her images and blogs – and with a keen eye for design she is often called on for sketches, layouts and 3D renders.

Peter O'Regan

Director

Peter is a company Director working in partnership with Mary Jane. With a background in business, he manages the finances, company structure and strategy of MJV Designs. On large scale events, Peter takes care of H&S, construction and compliance. As the tallest person in the studio, he’s also called upon to reach vases from the highest shelves!
